The Charentes vineyard is also known as the Cognac vineyard . This vineyard has the particular characteristic of being one of the last great vineyards intended for the production of alcohol. The vineyard dedicated to the production of Cognac covers approximately 75,000 ha. The production area covers Charente-Maritime , a large part of Charente , and some municipalities of Dordogne and Deux-Sèvres .

The Cognac vineyard is famous all over the world for its brandy. It stretches north of its famous neighbor, the Bordeaux vineyard , entirely dedicated to the production of appellation wines.
