FAQ

You want to know more about our Our cycling trip ? Here is the FAQ !

When should we go cycling the Vélodyssée?

The most popular period for cycling the Vélodyssée, especially along the Atlantic coast, is the summer season and more specifically July and August. If you are looking for peacefulness on the beaches and along the trip, plan your cycling holiday outside this period. As often, May, June and September, are the most enjoyable months for bike tours, you will be able to enjoy the sunny spring days. The ocean may be a bit cool in May and June but that would be the perfect refreshment after a biking day !

What type of bike choose for a holiday on the Velodysse and what is the surface of the Atlantic Coast Tour ?

We can recommend you either hybrid bike or electric bike depending on the tour you are choosing.

For instance, the north part of the Atlantic Coast Route – EuroVelo 1, between Nantes and La Rochelle has a few sections on enjoyable stabilized paths (“white paths”). The white paths are unpaved. Most of them are on the Vendée part. For this part of the Velodyssee we suggest wide hybrid tires type.

On the other hand, on the south part of the Atlantic Coast Route, from La Rochelle to Hendaye, all the stages are paved.

What should I do with my rented bike at the end of the tour ?

The interest of renting bikes or ebikes during your cycling holidays along the Atlantic Coast Route lies in not having to worry about their delivery or recovery. Bikes will be delivered to your first hotel and you will leave them, at the end of the ride, at your last hotel.

If you want to ride your own bike, we can offer you, on some bicycle trips, the delivery of your vehicle to your last step. This very comfortable solution is increasingly in demand. Contact us for further information.
