Bordeaux is the largest finest vineyard in France. Renowned
the world over, Bordeaux is a prestigious brand name that
conjures up a whole. This vineyard covers half of the
largest county of France called the Gironde. It spreads out
over 120 000 hectares and 500 communes representing 100 km
from west to east, and 130 km from north to south. How would
you go about discovering 57 appellations of origins,
choosing from over 8000 chateaux, nearly 13000 wine
producers while exploring a great diversity of vine-clad
landscapes ? On foot, because the vineyard are to be
discovered little by little. With your guide, you will
encounter the Bordeaux vineyard ant gascon hospitality.

Day 1 : Welcome
Transfer from the train station of Bordeaux or Libourne or the airport to
your accommodation at the end of the afternoon. Presentation of your program
by your guide and diner.
Day 2 : Entre Deux Mers & Saint-Emilion
During this day, you will discover 2 different vineyards, the Entre Deux
Mers region and then Saint Emilion.
Entre Deux Mers, a vast triangle delimited by two rivers, the Garonne and
Dordogne. The kaleidoscope of the terroir and the heritage lies on the vast
plateau which is rarely higher than 100 meters. The Entre Deux Mers hold
other hidden treasures like fortified towns, roman churches, Benedictine
abbeys,…
St Emilion and its vineyard was listed in 1999 by UNESCO as world heritage.
The vineyard climb up in narrow rows from the sandy plain to the gravely
terrace. The town of art and history is built like an amphitheatre over the
Dordogne valley river. Your hike will finish by a wine tasting and a guided
tour of the village.
Day 3 : Côtes de Bourg, côtes de Blaye
Bourg sur Gironde and Blaye are situated to the north of Bordeaux, bordering
the Charentes and Cognac area. The 2 citadel gave their names to two
different wine, growing in a region called the Bourgeais and Blayais. The
impressive estuary, the Dordogne river and further inland a limestone, hilly
plateau, form this charming landscape. Follow the picturesque route of Bayon
at Roque de Thau, where this floral route passes by the estuary and the high
limestone cliffs, sculptured with troglodyte dwellings. You will visit a
winery which produces sparking wine and a second wine which produce wines
from the côtes de Blaye.
Day 4 : Medoc
Medoc is a peninsula closed between ocean and estuary. The vineyard is a
long narrow strip of land on the left bank of the Gironde estuary. This area
homes very renowned chateaux like chateau Margaux, Mouton Rothschild, Latour,…
The 1855 classification confirms the excellence of the Medoc vineyards. The
success of the classification growths are reflected in the building where
the architecture that dates from the 17th and 19th centuries are of the most
unusual ant varied styles. Your hike will cross the appellation Pauillac
between vineyard, landscape and estuary.
Day 5 : Sauternes and Graves
The Graves is the birthplace of the Bordeaux vineyard. This is where the
antique vineyard was founded during the 1st century. This strip of land set
between the left bank of the Garonne and the huge landes forest is about 50
km long and stretches out from the doorsteps of Bordeaux to Langon. The
graves cover several appellations ; we will cross over the Pessac Leognan in
the north, and the sauternais in the south. The Sauternes area or the gold
treasures, is well known for the production of sweet white wine.
Jour 6 : Bordeaux and departure
Your hike will be today in…….Bordeaux, the capital of the wine. The city
displays a majestic look by the Garonne river with a unique and protected
architectural heritage dating from the 18th century. You will visit the
Chartrons district where the wine merchant settled in the 17th century, the
Triangle Bordelais and its architecture from the 18th century and will
finish your day by a free time in Bordeaux for shopping.
Transfer to the airport or train station.
