Self-guided cycling tour across the Burgundy, famous wine region in France.

With a road book and an hybrid bike (with all the equipment), you will ride through vineyards, across flowered fields and along rivers...

A wide view of this lovely French area. You will take cycling tracks as well as small roads, and will enjoy the evening in charming hotels and guesthouse.

Program

Day 1: Arrival in Beaune

We will meet in the bike rental office (350m far from the train station). We will provide you with your package, maps, route Visit of the old medieval town center of Beaune, its 15^th C ramparts, its 13^th C Basilica Notre Dame and its Hospices founded in 1443 as a charity hospital for the poor people. If you arrive in the morning, you will enough time for a short bikes ride among the Grands Crus of Corton and Corton Charlemagne
Dinner in Gourmet restaurant

Day 2: The Chardonnay Kingdom. Beaune - Rully. 35 km

You will be cycling among the most renowned vineyards of the Cote de Beaune.
Pommard, Volnay, Meursault, you will have rendez-vous at 11.30 in Puligny Montrachet for a private cellar tour. His owner will give you some advice before your wine tasting lunch at his place. (Tasting of 7 wines)

Day 3: The Voie verte. Option day10 / 20 / 40 km

You will have the opportunity of choosing different itineraries.
Cycling through the vineyards, from cellar to chateaux or along the canal du Centre, following the Voie verte. Lovely cycle path

Day 4: Rully - Nuits Saint-Georges 45 km

You will have the option to ride back to Beaune.
Through the fields of wheat and sunflowers or a bit more challenging, up to the Hautes Cotes de Beaune. You will enjoy the view of the Cote de Beaune from Saint Romain cliffs. Nice place for a picnic ! Visit of the 17^th C Chateau of La Rochepot .The Cote de Nuits starting just after the village of Ladoix

Day 5: The Cotes de Nuits and its red wines. 35 km + option

You will be riding through the most famous villages for the Red wine of Burgundy. Gevrey Chambertin, Morey Saint Denis, Chambolle Musigny, Vosnes Romanée, the Romanée Conti (the more expensive wine of Burgundy!)
Night and dinner in Nuits St Georges

Day 6: Nuits Saint-georges - Beaune. 25km

Nice ride up to the Hautes de Nuits, through picturesque villages and Cassis fields (cassis / Blackcurrant is used for liquor). You will have time to visit the old town center of Beaune, its Hospices, do some shopping...
